PROFILE – Lisa from Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences

Who are you, what are you studying and where are you currently spending your semester abroad?

My name is Lisa, I’m studying business informatics in the Master at the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences and am currently spending my semester abroad an der University of Wisconsin Madison.

How did you come up with the idea of ​​doing a semester abroad?

I’ve been to the bachelor’s degree Semester abroad in Liverpool, in England and I liked it so much there that I definitely wanted to go abroad again. That’s why I looked around for it again in my master’s degree.

Why did you choose Hawaii Pacific University?

I would like to go to one typical American university go, which is big and where the life of the students mainly takes place on campus, which is also a big one sense of community among the students and to the university. As a large university in the American Midwest, UW-Madison fits right in there. In addition, the UWM is academically on a very high level and offers a variety of courses for exchange students, which I really liked. For example, there is one as part of the “Visiting International Student Program”. Computer Science Trackwhich for me thematically fits perfectly into my studies.

how do you like it so far

I’m definitely doing very well here! I really like it and I can do the semester abroad enjoy very much. There really is always a lot to do on campus. The university and the clubs offer several leisure activities every day, so you always have to decide what you want to do because it there are so many great things to experience. I am also very satisfied with the courses, they are very practically built and you definitely learn a lot. So I’m very happy with my decision.

I also really like Madison as a city, that Night life here is very exciting. And due to its proximity to Chicago, for example, you can also travel a lot from here. Although the winter was very cold, Madison is situated directly between two lakes, which then froze over. That was really nice, because the sun often shone, it had a lot of snow and you could skate on the lakes, play ice hockey, cross-country skiing, etc. Sometimes there was also parties that happened on the ice and things like that. So Madison is a very beautiful city.

What do you want to show our community with your takeover?

I definitely want to show the city of Madison. Also the Campus and what housing options there are for students in the city, either on campus or off campus. Also, I would like that in general studies present and how the courses work. And of course the Freetime activitiesi.e. what there is from the university, with all the clubs and sporting events, but of course also activities outside of the university.
