If you have an Instagram account, you know that the hugely successful photo and video sharing app has made several changes since its launch on October 6th, 2010. After joining the ranks of other social media giants like Facebook and Twitter, Instagram added another feature to compete with Snapchat.
In August 2016, the company released Instagram stories. The tool allows users to take photos and videos that stay on their accounts for 24 hours. Many have used it to connect with their followers when they don’t feel like posting on their timeline.
Unfortunately, the Instagram story feature has experienced some glitches since its debut. Recently, users have complained that they cannot upload clear photos and videos to the app. If you’re wondering why your Instagram Stories are blurry and upside down, you’ve come to the right place!

In June 2022, Twitter users got excited about the latest installment of Instagram Stories mode. On the Vogel app, several people said they couldn’t post anything in their stories. When they tried to post, the app reportedly went blurry before shutting down completely.
“Anyone else having trouble posting photos to Instagram Stories?” one user tweeted. “Loads everything blurry and never shows up.”

“So I’m not the only one who can’t post Instagram Stories, am I?” another user asked via Twitter. “Blurred images are then posted upside down. Great stuff.”
Several people have tweeted Instagram directly to address what’s happening with their stories. However, at the time of writing, no one from the app has officially stated why the issue occurs.
According to HITC, due to a bug on the page, Instagram Stories are blurry and upside down and have nothing to do with a user’s internet connection. At the moment Instagram’s servers aren’t working properly, so we need to find some hacks to keep posting in the meantime.

If you don’t want to wait for Instagram to adjust itself, we have a few tricks that might help you fix your posts. First, you can make sure the app is up to date by checking the latest software updates for Instagram on your designated app store. While Instagram usually updates itself on Wi-Fi connected phones, sometimes a manual update is required.
Another trick is to take a photo using Instagram’s camera tool rather than your phone’s camera. By creating and uploading content directly to Instagram, some users have experienced higher quality photos that fit the screen properly. Others have found success by changing their camera’s settings on Instagram, which are usually found on the left or right side of your screen.
Some other steps you can try if these tips don’t work are deleting the app and downloading it again to see if it fixes itself. If that also fails, you can always use a tried and true trick – turn off your phone, wait a few minutes, and turn it back on. We can’t guarantee it will work, but it’s always worth a try!
