Instagram says there’s not enough demand for an iPad app

When will an Instagram application for iPad? There is no answer, except that it won’t be for now. Adam Mosseri, the boss of the social network, raised this subject on Twitter.

The Instagram application on iPad will wait…

YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) posted a tweet noting that it’s 2022 and there’s still no Instagram app for iPad. Adam Mosseri gave him answered : “Yep, we hear it often. It’s still not a large enough group of people to be a priority. I hope to get there at some point, but at the moment we are very busy with other things”.

Marques Brownlee then revived him on the subject and the manager highlighted three points:

  1. Each support adds overhead: we support iOS, Android, web version, Instagram Lite, and Android is the most important.
  2. TikTok and YouTube are behemoths, people share more in posts than in stories or on the main page, so we have to adapt.
  3. We are lighter than you think.

You have therefore understood: the Instagram application on iPad will not see the light of day immediately. The real question is: will it ever be available? In the meantime, those with a tablet can use the iPhone version of the app, but it’s not optimized for screen size. Otherwise, there is the web version of the social network.
