Instagram removes new Penélope Cruz movie poster due to exposed nipple

‘s poster Parallel Mothers, the new movie from Pedro Almodovar in which Penelope Cruz can be seen has been removed from Instagram. The move came under a lot of criticism, after which the social media giant apologized.

The poster shows a nipple with a drop of milk on it. This goes against the rules about nudity that Instagram’s parent company Facebook uses. After Instagram came under fire for this decision, the poster is back online.

Statement
An Instagram spokesperson said: “Under certain circumstances we make exceptions to the rules, for example if there is a clear artistic context. We therefore apologize for the possible confusion we have caused.

Javier Jaén, the poster’s designer, says Almodóvar was certainly aware that the image could cause problems on social media, but then it shouldn’t be taken off the internet just yet. Jaén now stands up for the director and the film.

Defense
Thus Jaen says:Pedro told me he was making posters with movies before Instagram even existed and would continue to do so after Instagram was gone. And what’s so shocking about the poster anyway? This is probably the first thing I saw when I was born.

Instagram, however, considers it dangerous and pornographic. How many people do they tell that their body is bad and dangerous? According to Instagram, their technology sees no difference in context. I don’t think that’s a valid excuse. Then adapt your technology.
