You no longer need to put pronouns in your Instagram name or bio as the app adds a new custom field for them. It’s currently only available in select countries, but Instagram says more people will soon be able to add pronouns to their profiles.
Users specifically have the ability to add up to four pronouns so that people know how to refer to them, such as “he / he” or “they / they”. You can also choose to show pronouns only to people who follow you. This can be useful if you have a private profile and you don’t want anyone to see how you identify yourself.
Inclusivity – To add your own pronouns, visit your profile, then click “Edit Profile” and you will see the pronoun field. You may need to update your app if you haven’t seen it yet.
Instagram only seems to allow some of the more common pronouns at launch, but it also contains Help form On their support site, where you can submit requests for pronouns not available as options. Instagram says it will update the list over time.
