Instagram introduces a new feature for feed posts
In publication posted on the Creators account, Instagram announces the implementation of a new feature that allows you to add a sound in a post. Thus, you can accompany your publications and photo carousels with music that will transcribe an atmosphere or a “mood”. The goal: to promote publications in the feed by giving access to music, in the same way as Stories or Reels.

Whichever format works best for telling your story, you can now add a soundtrack to your favorite photo posts to bring them to life! says Instagram.
Since music is a huge part of TikTok’s success, it’s no surprise to see Instagram develop more music-focused features beyond its short-form video format, Reels. In fact, Instagram continues to try to compete with the Chinese social network, which is increasingly consolidated in user habits.
How to add audio to an Instagram photo post
To add music to an Instagram post, here’s how:
- Create a new Instagram post by adding a photo (or more if you want to make a carousel),
- Make your changes as you usually do (adding filters and other settings),
- Then click following to enter the post settings interface and select the option Add musicwhich is displayed below Add a place,
- The options For you et Run across they allow you to see the music that will be the most suitable, depending on the sounds used in your stories, trends or various themes. You can also search for a sound using the search bar at the top of the screen,
- Once the music has been chosen, a precise passage can be defined, lasting between 5 and 90 seconds,
- Validate by clicking on the check mark in the upper right corner of the screen (or Finished on iOS)
- Click the check mark in the upper right corner of the screen (or split out on iOS) to publish your post.
