Instagram Notes arrive in France
Last month, Meta rolled out Notes to a few users in Asia and America. And good news: the Notes are now also available in France and in all countries of the European Union, in the United Kingdom and in Japan!
A staggered launch, linked to a test phase as well as to the different regulations that apply in certain countries, explains Adam Mosseri in a tweet:

As a reminder, this new format allows you to write short texts (up to 60 characters) which are displayed in a new section at the top of the Instagram messaging space. A function whose main objective is to promote interactions between users of the platform.
As the Instagram manager points out, the Notes feature “has been very successful in Asia, North America and Latin America, especially with teenagers”.
Note: Notes are currently being rolled out in France. If you don’t see the new feature yet, you’ll still have to be patient.
How to Add a Note on Instagram
You can share only one Note at a time. This appears for 24 hours (duration similar to Stories), and can be deleted or replaced by a new Note at any time.
To create an Instagram Note:
- Go to Instagram’s home (via the house symbol in the menu at the bottom of the screen), and click on the icon that represents a paper airplane (top right of the screen),
- Click on your profile picture, above your discussions,
- Write your Note (60 characters maximum),
- Choose to share your note with your followers, or your close friends only, then click on To share.
Good to know: if someone replies to your Note, a new discussion will be launched.
