Instagram Lite is only 2MB in size, much smaller than the regular version which is almost 30MB in size.

The light version of the application in general does not have the complete features of the regular version. For Instagram Lite, Facebook prioritizes two mandatory features, namely videos and messages, which according to their study are mostly used by people who live in remote areas than urban communities.

Apart from that, this application also has other features that don’t consume a lot of data, such as stickers and GIFs.

Instagram Lite also supports dark mode, which is considered to provide privacy for people who live close by.

Meanwhile, features that cannot be accessed on Instagram Lite include AR filters and animations.

Instagram will launch a Lite version globally in the near future.
