“Instagram Is Working On Paid Verification Feature”

Instagram is said to be working on a new feature where users can verify their account for a fee. After verification, the user receives a “paid blue badge”. We know such an option from the Twitter platform, among others.

Developer Alexander Paluzzi found the references “paid blue badge” and “idv” in Instagram’s code. ‘idv’ probably stands for ‘identifier’. According to the developer, the same code sequence has also been found in the latest build of the Facebook app. This could mean that the same option is also coming to Facebook. Facebook and Instagram are both owned by parent company Meta.

Twitter also introduced a paid verification feature last year, where users pay $8 per month for a Blue subscription. This gives users a blue check mark in front of their name and access to extra features, such as the option to edit tweets, upload longer videos and see fewer ads.
