Instagram is integrating with Spotify and I couldn’t be happier

Instagram and Spotify have jointly announced a new feature that will allow users to add songs from their Instagram account to their Spotify library.

Users will now be able to save songs attached to stories or posts to their Spotify library by first tapping the song title for information and then tapping the Add button with the Spotify logo.

in a note to 9to5MacSpotify said: “We know music is all around you and sometimes that means right on your social media. That’s why starting today, Spotify is excited to introduce a new integration with Instagram that makes it even easier to instantly capture and add songs to Spotify from Instagram with just a simple tap.”

Instagram has allowed users to add music to stories and posts for years, with a robust library of music from major labels and independent artists alike, but this is the first time we’ve seen the platform collaborate with a major streaming service. this way.

To access the new feature, users must link their Instagram and Spotify accounts. The songs will be added to the user’s “Songs I Like” playlist and library.

TikTok, which also has a music library supported by a wide variety of distributors, launched a similar integration with streaming services in 2023, but notably also includes support for Apple music and Amazonas Music.

However, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a partnership between Instagram and Spotify. Reports of a continuous sharing feature emerged in August.in which a user’s Instagram Notes indicator would be used as a “now playing” tab, but this feature has not been released.

Instagram integrates Spotify: our verdict

As a music lover and user of Spotify and Instagram for the last ten years, I couldn’t be happier with this new integration. This is the kind of useful feature that really saves people time, especially considering how much music promotion is done on social media these days.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen an artist appear in ads between stories or on my main feed, only to head to Spotify and misspell the act’s name in search, only to find my Instagram feed had updated, consigning my hopes of getting some new songs into the digital ether.

This feature is beneficial for listeners and artists, as it should apparently make it much easier for new fans to interact with promotional posts without interrupting their social media session.

So whether you’re in the mood for some moving box digging, or just want to find some new tunes while scrolling through memes, I think this is a feature that people will really take advantage of.

The global rollout of the Instagram and Spotify integration is underway, so be sure to keep both apps updated to the latest version, and for the latest news on social media features and smartphone software, check out our telephone coverage.
