Instagram increases the minimum time that can be set by the user

Instagram removed the ability to limit daily app usage to less than 30 minutes without notice.

In 2018, Instagram introduced a series of in-app options to set a daily time limit, with a reminder received when that limit is reached. The feature is designed for those who want to reduce their social media usage, and until now it also allowed you to select timers of five or ten minutes per day. As reported by TechCrunchwith the latest update, Instagram has now removed these options, allowing the user to set as a minimum limit only that of 30 minutes of use.

After updating the app, a “Set daily time limit” tab will appear which allows users to choose the duration, with a new minimum limit set at 30 minutes. The map defaults to 3 hours. In addition, a popup warns that the value of 10 minutes “is no longer supported”, since now the only options available are those of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, one hour, two hours and three hours.

The change comes just months after Instagram introduced the “Take a break” feature which allows users to receive periodic reminders if they have been using the app for too long.
