Instagram is reportedly working on a new Snapchat-like way to reply to your friends’ stories. According to Alessandro Paluzzi (a developer who learns about upcoming features through reverse engineering apps), Instagram is working on a feature that will allow users to create voice messages as another way to react to Instagram Stories.
In a tweet, Alessandro Paluzzi shared an image from Instagram Stories. In Paluzzi’s screenshot, we can see that there’s a new microphone icon located in the area where Story replies are, which will likely allow you to record a voicemail and then send it as a reaction to an Instagram Story.
It’s worth noting that even though Alessandro Paluzzi found the voicemail reaction feature in Instagram’s app code, that doesn’t mean Instagram will release the feature. Sometimes developers create a feature that they don’t implement in their app for some reason. There is also no news from Instagram about this potential feature.
The new category of answers developed by Instagram is another proof that Instagram is trying to improve its platform. As we previously reported, Instagram no longer sends a direct message to a story’s author when they like a story. The change was made because Instagram wanted DMs to focus more on conversations between you and your loved ones.
