Instagram is reportedly trying to improve its desktop experience, which currently allows users to view posts but not create them. According to an app developer, Instagram may soon allow users to post from the desktop web interface.

According to the screenshots of the new feature, users will be able to drag and drop images from their computer, crop them, add filters, edit and pretty much everything you’d expect from the process on a mobile device, but now on a desk. You can see the process below:

The only omission seems to be the ability to take an image from the device’s built-in camera, although this feature is available on the mobile web version of the app. This same limitation is present with IGTV videos, which are currently the only option for creating Instagram posts from the desktop experience.

VPN offers: lifetime license for $ 16, monthly plans for $ 1 and more

Instagram is largely a mobile app, available even on the best cheap Android phones. Nonetheless, the desktop web interface can be useful for some who prefer to display images and videos on a larger screen and don’t own a tablet or foldable like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. Being able to post from your desktop will also bring benefits. the experience closer to parity with the mobile application.

While it’s not possible to say whether the feature would be widely used or not, it doesn’t hurt to bring this feature to desktops. It’s also unclear if Instagram plans to allow users to create other types of posts from your desktop, like stories or reels, but it can just come down to the logistics.

Paluzzi says the feature may not be coming anytime soon as it’s under development internally, but it looks ready from the screenshots.

Meanwhile, Instagram has just added the ability to add pronouns to your profile, although that doesn’t seem to show up on the web interface at the moment.
