“Instagram co-founders’ new AI feature: Artifact’s article summarization in silly yet useful tones”

Artifact, the recently launched news app created by Instagram’s co-founders, has introduced an exciting new AI feature. The app can now summarize articles for users in different tones that range from silly to surprisingly useful. To use this feature, simply tap the “Aa” icon at the top of your screen and then click on “Summarize” if you’re on the latest version of the app. The summary will then appear at the top of your screen in a black box. From there, you can ask the app to summarize in different tones including “Explain Like I’m Five,” “Emoji,” “Poem,” and “Gen Z” by tapping the three-dot menu in the black box.

To test the feature, a recent article on Horizon Forbidden West: Forbidden Shores was selected due to its length and detail. The AI feature performed decently well across all five of the different tone options, with “Explain Like I’m Five” being blunt and to the point, and “Poem” providing a creative and humorous summary. However, Artifact cautions that AI can make mistakes, so it’s always important to read the full article to understand the complete story, regardless of which tone you choose. Nonetheless, having the option to choose from different tones is highly advantageous, especially for those who need something explained to them in a more straightforward manner.
