iInsta360’s GO range means it focuses on weight and dimensions. The 3rd generation contains mostly small changes compared to the GO 2, but it is still a very interesting product if only because of the 50% increase in battery or accessories in the form of a flip-up display.
The Insta360 GO 3 is, at least according to the company, the smallest action camera in the world. It weighs only 35 g (GoPro Hero 11 Black weighs 127 g). The small size and weight of the GO 3 makes it easy to record certain types of actions, for example it is possible to attach the camera to a pet’s collar or wear it as a necklace without noticing that it is actually a camera.
Aperture is F2.2, focal length 11.24 mm (35 mm equivalent), photos can be taken in INSP and DNG formats, videos are recorded in MP4. Their resolution is 1080p, 1440p or 2.7K at 24, 25, 30 or 50 fps. Slow motion video is recorded in 1080p quality at 120 fps. There is also a six-axis gyroscope or dual microphones. The resistance is IPX8 and the battery has a capacity of 310 mAh, so it can keep recording for 45 minutes.
The Action Pod is a flip-up 2.2″ touchscreen, with which the device weighs 96.3 g. It communicates with the camera via Bluetooth, so you can use it independently up to a distance of 10 m, for example as a viewfinder. Its protection is IPX4, the battery has a capacity of 1,270 mAh and, together with the camera, it will run for 170 minutes of recording. The price of the 32GB version starts at EUR 430 (approx. CZK 10,000). 64 and 128GB versions are also available. The camera comes with an action case, a magnetic pendant, a simple clip, a swivel stand and a lens cap.
Software magic
But a little more about the software. Insta360 GO 3 has impressive Insta360 FlowState and 360 Horizon Lock stabilization to keep your footage steady and stable even with extreme movements. You can also take advantage of voice control 2.0, which allows you to use the device “hands-free”. The company has also added new recording modes. These include pre-recording, loop recording and timed recording. The last mentioned mode is unique in that it allows you to schedule it to turn on and start recording at a specific time, like at sunrise, so you don’t have to get up to catch it because the camera takes care of it.
