Next summer again, Secours Catholique is organizing the reception in Haute-Loire of children from Alsace with families who will allow them to share their lives for two weeks. It will be from July 15 to 30.
Becoming a holiday family allows parents to have a holiday plan for their child with whom they remain in contact during the stay;
it is giving a child the opportunity to access special time for relaxation, leisure and exchanges.
However, the activity requires strict supervision in order to generate the confidence of all those involved. Families are accompanied by a departmental team who have met them in advance and who can advise them throughout the stay and intervene in the event of an emergency (7 days a week, 24 hours a day).
But, currently, Secours catholique cannot offer more children the opportunity to go on vacation due to a lack of volunteer families to welcome them.
Children generally return to the same family for several years. A testimony from last summer recounts a moving encounter:
This July 24, a car entered the courtyard. A young man, a young woman and a child got out. What did they want from me?
Suddenly everything came back to me: Younes! Who came so many years ago, the rascal who ran away! No news for 14 years!
Hugs, tears of emotion… He entered of course; He remembered everything: the village festivals, the rules of life at home… To the vigil we invited the neighbors: Monique who also welcomed children, Line who is almost the same age as Younès. He recounted his life, rather turbulent but now stabilized; and how, when returning from vacation, his wife suggested that he take a detour…
In the evening they left with jams, homemade syrups, vegetables from Monique, promising to give news.
