The Jaguar E-Type Collection 60 is inspired by the story of the premiere of this model at the March Geneva Motor Show. At that time, on March 15, 1961, the reaction was so positive that the British needed to get more test cars to Switzerland.

Mechanic Norman Dewis then got behind the wheel of a roadster and, despite the uncomfortable road network, recorded an average speed of 109 km / h between Coventry and Geneva – if we do not take into account crossing the canal to France, but on the contrary we include driving delays in central London. The coupe with PR manager Bob Berry behind the wheel had just managed to make it to the premiere the night before at a similarly frantic pace.

It is these two cars that the new collection of restored veterans remembers. The gray coupe is called 9600HP and the green roadster 77RW – according to the original registration marks of the cars.
–
Because the gray original was controlled by the so-called “Flat Out”, ie in the free translation “full”, this is exactly the name given to the varnish used. The instruction to the driver of the roadster was “throw everything and expression”, so the carmaker named the green shade “Drop Everything”. The carmaker states that these colors are inspired by the original shades from 1961 and will not be used in any other Jaguar.

The hand-carved maps of the mentioned routes on the center console will be interesting. For the coupe, the route map is accompanied by the famous words of Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons Berry after his arrival in Geneva: “I thought you would never get here.” on the phone when he realized he needed another car in Geneva.

The cars have been restored to the form of these legends, mostly according to factory specifications, but with a few concessions of modernity, the car also has, for example, infotainment with bluetooth.

It remains a 3.8-liter six-cylinder, but has an improved cooling system, electronic ignition and sends its 265 horsepower to the rear axle via a new, custom-made five-speed manual transmission with synchronization. Jaguar Classic also fitted a stainless steel exhaust system instead of the original mild steel. It gives it a “deeper tone” and is more durable.

Jaguar is now in contact with its customers to give just six pairs. The price was not announced by the British carmaker. However, the experience awaits the owner. In the summer of next year, they want to imitate Dewise and Berry’s journeys together.
