Inspired by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev is aiming for a comeback

Alexander Zverev admits he doesn’t expect to play his best tennis from the start, but remains confident he will find his best game soon. After undergoing knee surgery in the summer of 2016, Roger Federer returned to win the Australians Open 2017.

Rafael Nadal, who missed almost the entire second half of the 2021 season with a foot injury, won the Australian Open title early in the 2022 season.

Zverev, who performs in December, hopes to have a similar comeback process as Federer and Nadal have in the past.

Zverev hopes to emulate Federer and Nadal.

” I have not'[objectifs]Just wanna Have Fun.

This is the first goal. For me it is still a process. I have yet to go back to 100%. It’s not like after an injury we’re healthy and play like before.

It does not work. People always say that when Rafa or Roger comes back, they are 100%. But that’s not entirely true either. Rafa came back last year and I think he lost to everyone at the Abu Dhabi show.

Then he came back to the Australian Open, won the tournament and played the best tennis of his life.” “It was the same with Roger at the Hopman Cup. He lost to me and didn’t play very well against the other players.

He found his form at the Australian Open. I hope it will be a similar process for me, that I won’t play my best tennis right away, of course, but after that I’ll do well” Zverev told Eurosport.

After this week’s Diriyah Tennis Cup, Zverev plans to take part in the inaugural World Tennis League in December, from 19 to 24 December. In the same interview, Zverev admitted he doubted he could perform at his best in Dubai, but added that he hoped to be at least close to his potential in Australia.
