In view of the upcoming Fiestas Patrias celebrations, the Seremi de Salud has reinforced inspections of the production, distribution and sale of meat, empanadas and other food products, with the aim of protecting the health of the population and ensuring that the food consumed during these festivities complies with health regulations.
On this occasion, inspections were carried out in various premises in the commune of Rancagua, where key aspects such as temperature, adequate storage and maintenance of the cold chain of the products were verified.
To date, 157 inspections have been carried out, resulting in 35 health investigations, 2 operating bans and the confiscation of almost two tons of meat in poor condition, mainly due to being expired. “It is essential that people take precautions, check expiration dates and always buy from established places,” added regional minister Carolina Torres.
Fines for violations of health regulations can reach up to 1000 UTM, and the amount varies depending on whether the establishment has committed previous violations or whether it presents adequate working conditions for its workers.
