Kochi: A Public Health Authority will be set up in the state to ensure public health. The committee has extensive powers at the state, district and panchayat levels. The Authority has the power to conduct inspections without giving notice anywhere to ensure public health. It will come into force on the basis of the Kerala Public Health Ordinance issued by the Governor yesterday.
The director of the health department will become the state public health authority. D.M.O. Is the District Public Health Authority. The Local Public Health Authority will be responsible for the medical officer of the PHC in each panchayat. The benefit of coming with the authority is that you can complain about anything that threatens public health at a single center.
Every local body should have a local public health authority. There will be health inspectors and other officials to assist the authority. All government departments, including the police, should assist the Public Health Authority if requested.
