Inspection asks for help to check companies – Companies

The director general of the Federal Public Service for Welfare at Work raises the alarm about compliance with corona measures in the workplace, write Het Nieuwsblad and De Standaard on Monday. According to him, there are too few inspectors.

The federal inspection services have established that the corona measures on the site are not consistently observed everywhere. This gives the virus free rein again ‘, writes Paul Tousseyn, the director-general of the FPS for Well-being at Work.

His letter of Thursday, October 29, addressed to all outside services for prevention and protection at work, is an appeal that they too should report all violations.

Since June, however, there has been a common inspection strategy of all government social services, such as the RVA and the NSSO, to ensure maximum compliance with the measures against the spread of the corona virus. But according to Tousseyn there is a lack of enough inspectors, the Social Inspectorate has 136.

“If the external prevention services also reported violations, we could immediately start an investigation and take appropriate action,” writes Tousseyn. Every company is obliged to join such an external prevention service as soon as it hires an employee.

In recent months, checks into the corona measures showed that more than six out of ten companies were not in order, says PVDA MP Gaby Colebunders in the newspaper. He asks for the number of inspectors to be doubled.
