Insomniac Games Hit by Rhysida Ransomware Attack – Data Stolen and Leaked, Wolverine Game Images Compromised – Cyber Daily Report

Insomniac Games is most likely dealing with a serious problem at the moment. As the magazine reports CyberDaily (over PlayStation Lifestyle), the studio was to become the target of a hacker attack in the past hours, during which internal data was stolen. The ransomware group Rhysida is said to be behind the attack, and according to the available collage of leaked materials, it is clear at first glance that the attack was conducted with the intention of stealing personal information of employees. Blurred passport photos, probably taken for the purpose of arranging business trips, should also correspond to this. However, the collage also contains a pair of screenshots that appear to be from a work-in-progress version of Marvel’s Wolverine, which is the studio’s next big project.

As the Cyber Daily magazine details, for example, the personal data of the actor Yuri Lowenthal, the dubber of Peter Parker, was to be leaked, however, the collage is so small that the partial texts of the included documents cannot be read. As for the Wolverine images, one of them shows the game’s main character in a typical suit from the comics, and a smaller one shows him in a shirt with a hat on his head, reminiscent of the more civilian Logan, as we have seen in the only official teaser so far.

The fact is, if the images are indeed from the game, at the very least it will look a lot like Sony Santa Monica’s God of War. The third person camera shoots the protagonist over the shoulder, with the character not in the center of the image. The color palette seems to be quite moderate, tuned to more natural tones, but it is difficult to draw any conclusions from the small images. Whether more materials will appear is now a question for the hackers, who of course follow the expected scenario. They are giving the developers at Insomniac Games seven days to respond and are demanding 50 bitcoins, or over $2 million. But as you can probably guess, the companies Insomniac Games and Sony have not yet issued any statement, and it is likely that they will not even respond to the hackers’ call.
