Insignificant 15-year sentence for a young man who shot his ex-girlfriend to death

The oral trial concluded this Wednesday at the CDE Palace of Justice.

Moments ago, the oral and public trial of the young Anderson González Ocampos, accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend, Noemi Sosa Gómez, on August 20, 2021, ended.

Despite all the evidence presented by the Public Ministry, consisting of an overwhelming closed circuit, in addition to witness testimony, the Sentencing Court, made up of judges Emilia Santos Ávalos (president), Milciades Ovelar and Flavia Recalde (members), conspicuously They considered that the act was not a femicide as it was initially labeled, but rather an “intentional homicide”, a crime for which he was sentenced to a paltry 15 years in prison.

The Public Ministry represented by prosecutor Alberto Torres had requested a 30-year sentence for the defendant, and he himself said at the end of the public hearing that the sentence was too low.

WILL APPEAL RESOLUTION

Totally dissatisfied, the victim’s relatives and the plaintiff lawyer, Leonardo Samaniego, asked the representative of the company to appeal the Court’s resolution, since they consider the change in criminal classification and the minimal sentence aberrational.

Samaniego told La Clave that the tiny sentence that was applied to a criminal like Anderson is unacceptable. He explained that throughout the trial it was verified with irrefutable evidence that the victim and perpetrator were a couple, so the court ruling is not understood.
