Insignia wants to buy Austria shares – Sky

“Sky” Message

New episode in the confused relationship between Austria Wien and its “strategic partner” Insignia: As “Sky” reported on Sunday, the lifestyle group wants to take over shares in the indebted club. “Yes, we are ready to submit an offer for 49.9% of FK Austria Wien,” the TV station quoted the Insignia boss Michael Surguladze as saying.

New board and management required, Austria board member Krisch surprised

The condition for this is a “new election of the board and the release of the current management from their duties”. Because this is currently leading the club into “sporting insignificance”.

Austria board member Gerhard Krisch was surprised. “I have no offer from Insignia at the table,” said Krisch in a live broadcast before the Viennese league game at Austria Klagenfurt. “If so, then Insignia, like all other investors, should put an offer on the table that we will examine in great detail (…) and, as the board member of the stock corporation, I will make a recommendation to our committees, with whom a professional and meaningful one Cooperation for the next few years is conceivable. “

He is currently conducting very, very detailed negotiations with “many other investors, where we are entering a crucial phase,” said Krisch. “We manage these with great care in the spirit of Wiener Austria. We will pass this decision on to the committees in the next one, two or three weeks.”

Sales would flush over 12 million into the Austria coffers

According to a warrant, one percent of the shares in FK Austria Wien AG were worth EUR 250,000 in the spring. Since Austria wants to sell up to 49.9 percent of the AG to an investor, this would be a little more than 12 million euros.

The Georgian Surguladze also said the club is currently valued at “around 25 million”. He was seriously ill with Covid-19 in spring 2021 and thanked the medical team at Vienna General Hospital in a conversation with Sky. “I would also like to thank my friends Robert Zadrazil, Andreas Rudas and Frank Hensel for their support during this very difficult time.”
