Jakarta –
On social media, there is a lot of discussion about the porous, rusty Honda motorbike frame, until one breaks. The eSAF frame on Honda’s newest motorbike was accused of being the culprit.
It is known that several Honda automatic scooters use a new frame called eSAF or enhanced Smart Architecture Frame (eSAF). The eSAF frame was developed for several Honda scooters.
Honda first applied this type of frame to the Honda Genio at the start of its launch in 2019. Now, the frame that is claimed to be lighter has been used in several of Honda’s flagship scooters. Currently, Honda motorcycles that use the eSAF framework include the Honda Genio, Honda Scoopy, Honda BeAT and Honda Vario 160.
The eSAF frame is different from previous Honda motorcycle frames. If the previous Honda motorbike used a pipe or tubular frame, the eSAF used steel plates which were then pressed and welded.

There are at least six parts of the frame that are put together. The welding uses a laser wielding so that the quality of the laser welding results is claimed to be better, does not affect the composition of the frame body and there is almost no deformation.
These materials and methods are said to improve fuel efficiency. This is because the frame is 4 kilograms lighter compared to the old frame.

AHM claims the eSAF frame is 8 percent lighter than the previous Honda scooter frame. This makes driving more comfortable and easy to maneuver. Even though it’s lighter, Honda says the eSAF has better durability because it uses steel.

With these advantages, there are actually many complaints from consumers who use Honda scooters. On social media there are lots of complaints about motorbike frames that are rusty, porous and some break.
According to Marketing Director of PT AHM Octavianus Dwi Putro, cases of rusted, porous to broken frames must be seen case by case. Because, not all consumers complain about it.
“We see that it has to be case by case, yes. That’s just a reported case, we’ll go into it further later. Because so far there have been no significant complaints about it from other consumers. So maybe we should look at it case by case. ,” said Octa.
“Depends on the case. If the case is a misuse, yes, we will help next time so that it doesn’t happen. Then we will help with the spare parts. Some need further investigation, related to QC (quality checking), we will handle it. So it depends on the case. For example, if the frame is broken while looking at it because of use, because it’s near the beach or the sea, there are lots of cases. So I can’t say, just case by case,” he said.
Regarding whether the porous and broken motorbike frame is guaranteed, Octa explained that it depends on the case. “Depending on the earlier case, he is still included in the criteria and warranty period or not. Everything has a time, there are conditions,” he said.
