Achieving similar fame is very difficult. Although film producers usually receive a stable salary, they only achieve fame in exceptional cases.

How much does a film producer earn on average in the country?

The salary of film producers is regulated by the “collective agreement for film and television workers”. The film industry is in many ways a special case compared to other economic sectors.

For example, producers, cameramen and actors are usually only employed for the duration of filming and therefore only receive a salary for the hours worked. Strictly speaking, this is not a salary or a fixed salary in the traditional sense, but rather a fee payment.

Unlike most other professions, film producers receive a weekly salary rather than a monthly salary. According to the collective agreements between Verdi and the FilmUnion, film producers working in Germany earn at least 1,918 euros gross per week.

This year, salaries were increased by 7%, meaning film producers now earn more than before. However, this comparison makes no sense when you consider the specifics of employment in the film industry. It is important to note that film producers are only employed for the time required for the respective production.

In addition, some of them are self-employed. They are therefore not covered by the collective agreement mentioned above.
Film producers coordinate the production of television and cinema films or productions for streaming providers. In technical jargon, they are also known as production managers and rarely participate in brainstorming and writing scripts.

Her tasks also include developing technical specifications for camera, sound and lighting. In some cases, casting may also be their responsibility.

Producers have a great responsibility for managing the film studios’ existing budget allocated for the production of a film or series.
