Journalist Igor Semyon published interesting information from the Italian curator of the Ukrainian judicial corps Luciano Luci.
Luciano Luci
“Luciano Luci admitted that in the match between Minaj and Shakhtar, referee Dmitry Bondarenko made a mistake: he did not send off Sudakov for a foul against Ralyuchenko (65th minute). After this, Bondarenko was not removed from refereeing… but simply transferred to VAR (three matches over the next month and another as an on-field referee), which Luciano Luci considers sufficient punishment, because it seems to affect earnings.
Referees on the field, according to the curator, receive 39 thousand hryvnia for one match. VAR referees – six thousand hryvnia. Therefore, a transfer to VAR, and not a complete suspension, according to Luchi, is sufficient punishment because it causes considerable financial losses.
Moreover, Luchi himself also admitted that VAR referees do not bear any responsibility. That is, if you made a mistake, were transferred to VAR, and in the next match (already at VAR) you also made a mistake, then you will calmly take your six thousand hryvnia, and all responsibility will fall… on the referee in the field,” Semyon wrote in Telegram.
