Last Friday I startednsidious: The Red Door with estimated $13.25 million. This amount includes proceeds from the previews. In comparison, Indiana Jones 5 on Friday could only $8 million hit the box office in the US and Canada.
Looking at the entire weekend, everything points to a neck-and-neck race between the two films. Should it Indiana Jones 5 despite overwhelming word of mouth succeed in persuading the audience to go to the cinema after all, then the Disney film could stay at number 1 in the cinema charts for at least another week. However, this will not change the fact that Harrison Ford’s departure as an action archaeologist will go down in cinema history as a big flop.
