WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The World Bank plans to approve a $350 million loan payment to Ukraine within days, insiders say.
The expansion of an existing loan would serve to “support the budget,” the people told Reuters. This means that no restrictions on the use of the funds would be imposed on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to one source, a draft could be ready for approval by the end of the week. Payments could be stopped if Zelenskyy’s government was overthrown. The World Bank would have granted Ukraine loans of 1.5 billion dollars with the sum last year.
