In the past, Apple has already tried to cut the cables around the iPhone. First, the farewell to the classic headphone output was celebrated and the switch to Lightning and Bluetooth connections was celebrated. The data transfer of pictures or videos between iPhone and computer is also largely done via iTunes.
The catch is the supply of energy to the iPhone 12. Although there is the possibility to use the Qi feature (which has already been installed on other iPhones) and charge it wirelessly, a lot of energy is lost and the charging times increase. A quick and efficient solution could be a modified “Smart Connector”, which was already installed in the iPad Pro and is used, among other things, for the external keyboard. This is also able to transmit energy and data. A plug connection or a cable would then no longer be required to charge the device.
