Cairo – ASA:
A security source denied the allegations circulated regarding the death of a psychiatrist – while he was in pretrial detention at the Gamasa Police Station in Dakahlia, as a result of not providing him with health care.
The source explained that on the 28th of last February, a worker (an inmate in one of the treatment centers for addiction and special mental illnesses located in the department’s department) died. Upon summoning the responsible director (a psychiatrist), he decided that the deceased was a resident in the center and was being treated for addiction.
By presenting it to the Public Prosecution, I decided to form a committee from the Free Therapy Department and the Regional Council for Mental Health to move to the aforementioned center to conduct the necessary examination.. Subsequently, the Public Prosecution charged the responsible director with (providing harmful substances to the aforementioned worker that led to his death – not fulfilling the procedures for licensing the medical facility referred to to her) and decided to imprison him pending the case.
On March 6, the aforementioned doctor felt unwell, and was immediately transferred to Gamasa Central Hospital for treatment, but he died. A report was received from the hospital stating that the death was natural and the result of an acute respiratory crisis.
