The men of Inside today will be ringside tonight at Mia and Dion’s performance Khalid & Sophie. Their studio is almost next to the studio where the NPO 1 talk show is recorded. They discuss Mia and Dion’s renewed performance in their show. Johan Derksen is more enthusiastic than before: “It was a little better.” But he doesn’t like the song and the two singers have ‘none soul in their voice’. “There’s nothing in it at all.”
Hélène Hendriks agrees with him. She thinks that the adjustments that our Eurovision entry has made to the song are not working out well. “There was so much pressure on it, so well done in that regard. Everything there is no soul left in the song.” René van der Gijp is happy that the two are now facing each other instead of frolicking around each other. “That gives more peace.”
They don’t have a good word for Duncan Laurence, who nominated Mia and Dion. “He does make a mistake. He says: ‘I don’t care anymore’, but they do this for the whole of the Netherlands,” says Hélène. Johan is disgusted by the former winner of the Eurovision song contest. “I think it’s a jellyfish.” Mia and Dion also get it. “It was three pickles together.”
Johan prefers to see our country represented in the Eurovision Song Contest differently. “I saw Davina walking yesterday. Send her there. That’s not my music, but she does touch me.” Davina performed for the king in Rotterdam yesterday.
Mia and Dion have not yet made a big impression in Europe, but the entries below do not reach the audience in the right way either.
