In the documentary series “Inside…”, ProSieben Maxx has been looking behind the scenes of popular film franchises and series for some time. “Star Wars”, “Fast & Furious” and the Marvel universe have already been illuminated. On German Unity Day (October 3rd), ProSieben Maxx is heading to Springfield to look in detail at the world’s yellowest family and the longest-running US primetime animated series: “The Simpsons”. This is garnished at the start with a series marathon lasting several hours.
Anke Engelke, who has been dubbing Marge Simpson for many years, guides through the German version of the six-part US documentary series. The first episode of “Inside The Simpsons” airs at 9:45 p.m. and explores the origins of the animated series that has had an incredible impact on pop culture in “How It All Began.” In interviews, those involved talk about the development of the format. The second episode, which will be broadcast immediately afterwards at 10:40 p.m., deals with the pilot episode in detail. After the short, two-minute “Simpsons Shorts” that were shown on the “Tracey Ullman Show,” the US network FOX decided to spin off “The Simpsons” as its own series. A prime-time animated format was a big risk at the time, as there was strong competition, including The Bill Cosby Show.
In keeping with the start, “Simpsons” fans from the very beginning can look forward to a series marathon: From 2:40 p.m., ProSieben Maxx will show early episodes of the cult series non-stop. It starts with the very first episode “It’s a Hard Christmas” from 1989. This is followed in chronological order by the remaining twelve episodes of the first season. At 8:15 p.m. ProSieben Maxx will show “The Simpsons – The Film”, the first and so far only cinema film from the series from 2007.
