New sound exhibition until March 7, 2021 in the Haus der Musik
Vienna (OTS / RK) – The Haus der Musik, a Wien Holding museum, has opened its doors to visitors again since December 7, 2020, once again offering cultural enjoyment at the highest level. At the same time, the walk-in sound exhibition “Inside Beethoven!” Was opened – an invitation to the public to hear the “classic” Ludwig van Beethoven anew and from a perspective that is otherwise reserved for the musicians themselves. The extraordinary installation combines the latest findings from musicology with the modern music edition to create a spectacular right in the middle of it all and can be experienced in the Haus der Musik until March 7, 2021.
Be part of an orchestra
When musicians are on stage and play, the audience respectfully keeps their distance. In the installation “Inside Beethoven! The walk-in ensemble “is different: the musicians perform virtually, and visitors should and are allowed to enter the stage. To be able to go to the place of each individual member of the ensemble and to be able to listen to the artists at close range creates a fascinating in the middle of it all experience that is otherwise only reserved for the ensemble.
The music, its polyphonic structure, the playing of each individual instrument and its contribution to the overall sound suddenly become transparent. The visitors can literally walk through the ensemble, explore it and experience the important musical work from completely new perspectives – an unusual and delightful experience for both experienced listeners and musical amateurs.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s septet in E flat major op. 20 can be heard both in the version for winds and strings as well as in Beethoven’s own trio arrangement for piano, clarinet and cello Opus 38. The notes of the individual voices and the changes in the trio arrangement can be transferred to digital Music stands can be tracked in parallel, a marker always shows where the musicians are in the piece.
An exhibit at the interface between art and computer
“Inside Beethoven!” Is an innovative joint project that was implemented at the Detmold University of Music on the occasion of the Beethoven anniversary year. Refined audio productions, complex music informatics and the latest findings in musicology and digital music editions combine to create a unique exhibit at the interface between art and computer. As a touring exhibition, it will travel through Germany and Austria in 2020 and 2021. The visitors are invited to move between the digital music stands and take the position of the musicians. The music, its polyphonic structure, the playing of each individual instrument, its contribution to the overall sound and its weighting in the music as a whole become transparent.
“Inside Beethoven” is a project within the framework of BTHVN2020 and was developed by the Detmold University of Music. More information at www.bthvn2020.de.
