Inserting people with disabilities into work: Bum, Buoni Un Mondo is born in Milan

Inside the new offices of Universal Music Italia, in via Nervesa 21 in Milan, BUM – Buoni Un Mondo has been opened, a bar/restaurant space dedicated to employees, born thanks to an innovative corporate catering project in collaboration with a Milanese reality of the Third Sector. Universal Music Italia has chosen as its partner the L’Impronta Group, a non-profit network made up of an association and four social cooperatives that has been operating in Milan for 25 years on the issues of disability and social fragility.

BUM Universal, managed directly by the l’Impronta Group, offers the concrete possibility of introducing two young people with disabilities and a small team, coordinated by a catering professional, into the world of work.

Over the years, the L’Impronta Group has created a truly ethical and local food supply chain in Milan that ranges from social agriculture to bakery and pastry making, up to catering with the aim of including people with fragility into work.

BUM – Buoni Un Mondo which is located on the tenth floor of the new Universal Music Italia headquarters with a spectacular 360 degree view of the city of Milan, offers quality products from this supply chain such as: croissants, artisanal biscuits, cakes, savory snacks, nectars of fruit, jams, hot dishes (also using fresh vegetables and sauces from the social agricultural activity) and other quality products outside the supply chain.

Andrea Miotti, President of L’Impronta, underlines: “For us it is an honor to have the opportunity to start a partnership with an important and iconic company like Universal Music Italia. We believe that BUM Universal represents the choice of a different vision of bar and restaurant services in the company, which always places the quality of food and the relationship with customers in the foreground, while at the same time enhancing the work of people with disabilities, true creators and protagonists of quality. Universal Music Italia in particular is the first company to share this idea, giving life to an innovative corporate social responsibility project.”

“I have tried, since the beginning of the project to transfer our headquarters – specifies Daniele Demartini, CFO and PIC (People, Inclusion and Culture) Director of Universal Music Italia – to make a bar/restaurant space available to all employees that could be a meeting place for employees and for those who will have the opportunity to visit our offices or use our new recording studios. The meeting with L’Impronta was both casual and sought. Through several common contacts we got to know each other and together we built the BUM Universal project, adding to the primary need (meeting place and catering) the opportunity for direct, concrete and above all visible help for vulnerable people and workers. I am sure that this union will bring benefits to both L’Imprint and Universal employees.”

The L’Impronta Group intends to propose this format to other companies that want to concretely commit to the issues of social and environmental sustainability, thus increasing the employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
