Insensitive or sarcastic? Jennifer Aniston’s ‘Tone Deaf’ pandemic-themed Christmas ornament divides fans

Christmas decorations are a personal choice. But when it comes to celebrities, it’s rare that the choice is personal. And the recent celebrity to burn under the gaze of social media critics was Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston, who made a lot of noise online after sharing a photo of a Christmas tree decoration.

The simple wooden ball that was supposed to hang from the Christmas tree bore the inscription “Our first pandemic 2020”.

Aniston posted the image to her Instagram page and the image quickly spread to other platforms.

The bauble instantly sparked outrage on social media and Aniston, who is typically social media darling, faced considerable leeway for what many saw as an attempt to clear up the pandemic.

Many felt that in the wake of the pandemic, which claimed more than 1.77 million lives across the world in the space of a year, Aniston’s Christmas decoration was a bit ‘muffled’. Critics of Aniston’s questionable party decor choices have also led to a debate about how several “celebrities” were unaffected by the chaos of the pandemic and that the piece of coronavirus– the themed decoration was only proof.

Fans, of course, jumped in to Aniston’s defense and asked people to “calm down”.

Many have claimed that there is nothing to be mad about as indeed the friends The actor had meant the ball as a sarcastic way of accepting and acknowledging – in many ways – the unprecedented year we experienced in 2020.

But opponents are not convinced.

Well, sarcasm or not, the incident proves that internet users are pretty much ready to get angry with anything, especially during the holidays.
