The Hamburg fire department said in the evening that a child had stepped into a nest of earth wasps. The wasps reacted immediately and attacked the boys and girls on their bodies and faces. The children were stung multiple times, one child more than 20 times.
Two seven-year-old girls were taken to the hospital. Seven children and one adult received medical care, according to the fire department. The celebration took place in a park on Mühlenberger Weg in the Blankenese district.
