Insabi asked the Treasury for 9,337 million pesos to equip hospitals during the coronavirus crisis

Given the increase in contagion due to coronaviruses and a deteriorated health system, the Institute of Health for Well-being (Insabi) seeks to reinforce hospitals with medical equipment such as: ventilators, advanced vital signs monitors, intensive care beds and portable X-rays, among other things.

– –

According to the newspaper The universal, Insabi also plans to replace, at the national level, the equipment for the COVID-19 diagnosis, among which stand, real-time thermal cyclers, upright freezers and extraction robots, to reduce symptoms and morbidity and mortality rates during the epidemic.

– –

And it is that the more than 11 hospitals that are part of the Insabi lack medical supplies, beds and personnel to be able to face the health crisis that the country is experiencing due to the COVID-19, a disease that has claimed the lives of 1,221 people to date.

– –

Thus, Juan Antonio Ferrer Aguilar, CEO of Insabi, signed the resource request for an estimated amount of 9,337 million pesos. The petition was forwarded to the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) and represents one of the largest amounts required so far this year.

– –

Acquisition of at least planned 4,260 adult-pediatric ventilators; 3,041 advanced vital sign monitors; 1,818 intensive care beds; 56 portable X-ray equipment; 187 point of care ultrasound equipment.

– –

As well as 55 thermocyclists in real time; 104 upright freezers of different specifications; an electrical transfer equipment; 47 extraction robots; an information analysis and diagnostic kit for sequencing, in addition to seven barcode readers; 10 kits for information analysis and diagnosis for real-time PCR.

– –

It should be noted that the health system in Mexico reflects a deterioration and lack of equipment to meet the demand for cases of COVID-19 that fill the hospitals in the country and despite the requests to purchase supplies, a change has not yet been seen in hospitals.

– –

Just last March 11, the Insabi asked for more than 145 million pesos to buy material and be able to distribute it in clinics of various entities in the country.

– –

Other hospitals also filed a letter with the Ministry of Finance, in which they asked for a budget to equip the places of medical attention to the patient.

– –

Among them the General Hospital stands out; the Juárez Hospital and the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases (INER), who asked 70 chemists, 70 laboratory assistants, 70 X-ray technicians, 174 stretcher-bearers, 116 laborers and 106 rehabilitation technicians, as well as a list of 150 supplies to work with, which included basic materials such as antiseptic soap, mouth guards, antibacterial gel, paper, syringes and catheters.

– –

The recruitment process to join the ranks of Insabi, which is currently maintained, was announced by the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell.

– –

López-Gatell recalled that said program will seek to integrate more than 40,000 doctors, nurses and specialists, who will work in the poorest areas of the country, some such as: Amatlán, Chiapas; Metztitlán, Hidalgo, and Fresnillo, Zacatecas.

– –

“All committed people with high values of medical ethics, able to bring health to the most marginalized communities in the country and listen to the history of each person as if it were the first time, are called,” said the Ssa.
