The inquiries on the cause of death by HKUST student Zhou Zile continued today (16th), and the coroner’s court re-summoned Zheng Guanming, the head of the ambulance team who had given evidence earlier. In response to a question from the Coroner’s Inquiry Officer, he said that if you deal with a fall from a height, the process from stopping to lifting the stretcher and leaving the ambulance can usually be completed within 2 to 3 minutes. But emphasize that this incident is “special.” He also pointed out that if the ambulance was not blocked on Tong Ming Street that day, and there were no dead vehicles in front of the fire gate of the housing estate, it would be able to park directly in the parking lot and the ambulance would arrive about 10 minutes earlier.
After the court session in the afternoon, the representative lawyers and the coroner successively asked Zheng Guanming questions. Coroner Gao Weixiong asked, thinking about it now, would he think that there was no need to wear a gas mask in that day? Zheng said that he would “wear a gas mask.” Gao Weixiong asked, even if there is no dead car at the scene, and the ambulance is parked in the parking lot, would he still wear a gas mask? Zheng replied, “Don’t just need to ensure the (safety) of entering, you will leave.”
Regarding Zheng said that when he received service instructions that night, Suntech was known to have public activities and riot police, Gao Weixiong asked, whether in any case, any service call that day would wear a gas mask? Zheng pointed out that “when all risks exist, we will first consider not wearing them.”
Zheng also stated that if the ambulance was not obstructed on Tangming Street or obstructed by dead vehicles that day, it would be able to drive straight to the road next to the parking lot and stop, which is estimated to arrive about 10 minutes earlier.
“You can pack up your equipment after parking.”
Under the question of the jury, Zheng said that he started to energize the fire chief on the way to the Suntech parking lot, and had a total of three calls. He knew from the first phone call that the injured person suspected of falling from a height, but he reacted and his condition “should be bad.” After he stopped, he contacted the firefighter, in addition to understanding the situation of the injured, but also to confirm the location of the injured.
The jury asked if the ambulancemen would normally pick up the equipment while driving. Zheng replied, “If you have a tentacled hand, it will be ordered first while driving.” But because the situation is “special”, “special equipment” is needed, but These equipment are placed far away and heavy, and need to be lifted with both hands, so the equipment can only be packed after parking. Zheng further explained that as soon as the ambulance received the service call, it would not slow down, but “rush to it.”
It has been estimated that it will take about 5 minutes to reach the parking lot before the fire gate
Zheng You pointed out that if you don’t need special equipment, you can usually set off in about a minute. If you are dealing with a fall from a height, the process from parking to lifting off the stretcher can generally be completed within 2 to 3 minutes. But he again emphasized that this incident was “special”, in addition to the special equipment required, it also included walking to the parking lot.
Zheng further explained that he considered how to reach the location of the injured faster in the vehicle, including determining whether the road was completely blocked by the obstruction, whether other roads could be used for detours, unconventional roads (ie shoveling pedestrian paths, etc.) Whether structures such as entrances can be allowed to pass through at the scene. He also stated that when he was in Guangying Pavilion, he initially estimated that he would need to walk 4 to 5 minutes to the parking lot.
