In the past few days, there have been some events that are not likely to increase the reputation of American democracy, which we all believe in with great pride. The House of Representatives had to vote 15 times to elect a Speaker. One can only imagine the plight of the poor electorate who realized that they had elected unprincipled representatives.
Now, US Attorney General Merrick Garland has tasked Special Consul Andrew Hurn with investigating whether certain classified documents received by President Joe Biden while he was the Vice President were not returned. The fact that it was Garland who had to give the investigative report is amazing. It is said that there will be an investigation into the documents that were not returned in the Pennsylvania office of Biden, who was the VP, and at his house in Delaware.
The US Department of Justice is investigating former President Donald Trump over official documents found at Trump’s Mareago resort and plans to initiate criminal proceedings against Trump. Meanwhile, the Democrats lost their majority in the House of Representatives and the Republicans gained the upper hand. There were calls to investigate the allegations against Biden and his family members. The Trump team did not provide classified documents when requested. When he tried to grab it, he created an obstacle. The Biden team relented when it asked for classified documents. Both situations are different. The Biden side argues that criminal proceedings can only be taken against Trump.
But Garlant’s remark that Biden’s staff is wading through these muddy waters infuriates me is striking.

The White House revealed that classified Obama administration documents were found at a Delaware home of Biden. Before this, the documents were also found in the Washington office. Garlant said the DOJ was notified of the documents at Biden’s home on Dec. 20.
