The city of Innsbruck publishes the country’s official letter on the Internet

As a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, childcare facilities, among other things, were only operated in emergency mode. The respective parents of the city institutions were informed by telephone of the respective educators about the planned gradual opening. The city of Innsbruck also publishes the official letter of the state of Tyrol on the website www.ibkinfo.at.

For the responsible city councilor Mag.a Elisabeth Mayr and the office “Children, Youth and Generations”, communication with the legal guardians is particularly important in this time of crisis. Through direct contact with the legal guardians, the flow of information to families with non-German mother tongue was also maintained.

Nationwide regulations and recommendations

From May 18, the facilities will be gradually reopened, targeting in particular children in the compulsory kindergarten year with attendance and children with language needs. The State of Tyrol also provides a recommendation for hygiene measures for childcare facilities.

Until May 15, the country’s default is as follows:

  • Children should continue to be looked after at home if possible.
  • All children whose parents need childcare are to be looked after in the facilities, regardless of the nature of your professional activity and regardless of whether you work in the home office or if there is a need for childcare for other reasons (e.g. due to stressful family situation). It is not necessary to submit a work confirmation.
  • In the facilities, care will be given in the smallest possible groups. There is no fixed limit on the number of people in a room. It must be possible to keep a distance of at least 1 meter. If there is not enough space, the facilities can also use other group rooms (such as exercise rooms, bedrooms, etc.).
  • Rejection of children due to lack of space is not permitted. With an increasing number of children to be cared for, this requires good cooperation between you and your institution in order to clarify the need for care as far as possible. We therefore ask you to announce your childcare needs at your facility at least a few days in advance in order to be able to make provisions regarding the premises. SAKU
