“There are 442 robotic arms in the welding workshop, with 2 to 4 robotic arms assigned to each workstation. A maximum of 8 robotic arms can cooperate with each other at one workstation.” Zhang Wenjun, director of the equipment and power department of Great Wall Motors Chongqing Branch, said, “The Yongchuan factory has been operating since 2019. Behind the efficient cooperation of robots is a precise quality control system. “During the welding process, the self-correction control system can monitor and adjust welding parameters such as pressure, current, and time in real time, making the quality more stable than manual welding,” Zhang Wenjun said.

In order to ensure product quality, the Yongchuan factory has achieved full coverage of machine vision inspection for the glue coating process throughout the entire production process. During the gluing process, a customized multi-camera monitors the gluing process in real time. With the computer’s data statistics and analysis capabilities, the detection accuracy can reach ±0.2 mm, which greatly reduces the probability of gluing failure.

“From the early days of the factory, a complete vehicle was rolled off the assembly line every 120 seconds, to now 72 seconds. Intelligent upgrades have not only improved product quality, but also improved production efficiency.” Zhang Wenjun said, “In the past few years, the Yongchuan factory has put in new transportation , spraying, welding and other intelligent equipment, with an investment of over 100 million yuan. Through the application of information systems, flexible scheduling and other technologies, the factory’s production capacity continues to improve.”

“In recent years, Yongchuan District has actively promoted the in-depth integration of digital technology and manufacturing, and introduced relevant plans to clarify the direction, goals and implementation paths of the intelligent transformation of the automobile industry.
