The nomadic poet returned last year with his jubilant cocktail of Caribbean sounds on the album Soul Tropical, an exhilarating hymn to the West Indian soul venturing towards ever sunnier poetic territories. The musician-singer and adventurer of Creoleness found there the accomplices of his acoustic project NocturneVincent Segal, Ballaké Sissoko and Roger Raspail on the title Cle. An introspective ballad tinged with gospel which inspired the American filmmaker Damani Baker, author, among other things, of a documentary on Bill Withers, made just before his death and of several clips for Meshell Ndegeocello.

“In life, there is no chance, there are only meetings. We instantly connected with Damani who welcomed me to New York to shoot this clip in 16mm with a whole film crew. Everything was done in one day from Brooklyn to Manatthan via the Bronx, with a vintage aesthetic reminiscent of the Bill Withers concert that I love.” David Walters tells us before adding “In addition, this title, Klé, is particularly close to my heart, with a strong text. “Klé” means clear in Creole. Nothing is permanent, not even problems, when you fall, it’s the vital instinct that gives you hope, an inner voice that helps you see clearly, find the way out. There is a strong influence of gospel in this title, a reference to God with very present Creole choirs enhanced by the music of my companions in the “Nocturne” project, the incredible Vincent Segal, Ballaké Sissoko and Roger Raspail. The ideal team to extend the idea of the text into music.“
