March 20 is World Oral Health Day. Diana Giršiūtė, an oral hygienist who develops innovative products for oral care and health in the Alytus region, notices that people still pay too little attention to oral health and care, so she sees the meaning in educating the public and conducting training in her activities.
In cooperation with scientists and laboratories, she has been developing toothpaste tablets for several years, which provide an opportunity to make the process of brushing teeth more interesting and friendly to nature. This product has been on the market for about a year now.
Outdoor interests – health, environment and emotions
“Back in school, I was interested in health topics, the environment around us, later on, psycho-emotional state was also a field of interest – that’s how yoga and its idea of not harming not only yourself, but also the other environment appeared in my life. Health begins with the mouth, which is the gateway to the body. All these ideas came together in one cauldron and it became the basis for creating the product,” said Diana.
According to her, despite the fact that there are many tools on the market, she is surprised that because of this, people still lack the habit of taking proper care of oral hygiene, and because of its lack, the incidence of various diseases does not decrease, and the queues at the dentists do not shorten.
This is how the idea was born to look for ways to help people to take care of their oral hygiene more easily.
The product is an alternative to routine
A tooth cleaning tablet is an alternative to regular toothpastes. It is enough to chew them until they melt in the mouth, and these, foaming easily, with the help of a regular toothbrush, already do part of the work in the oral cavity. By the way, the entrepreneur can already offer other products related to dental care – bamboo toothbrushes, bamboo fiber interdental floss, travel boxes, tongue cleaners. In the future, the woman plans to offer the possibility to simply refill the glass jars purchased with the product with teeth cleaning tablets.
For now, Diana sells the products she creates in an online store. Sometimes you can also meet her at various fairs, where she presents her products and new dental care options.
The focus is on ecology
While developing the product, Diana collaborated with scientists working in laboratories, and looked for solutions even abroad. This resulted in a largely organic product that is easy to dose. It is fully utilized, and the packaging does not use plastic, which normally goes to plastic waste in huge quantities.
Diana emphasizes that the latter packaging is usually made of different types of plastics, and many brands also have a metal layer in the tube, which is not easy to separate for recycling purposes. Plastic takes an average of 500 (or more) years to decompose in a landfill. Also, we throw a tube of toothpaste in the trash without emptying 100 percent of it.
To business – through self-development, yoga, self-knowledge
In addition to her work and business as an oral hygienist, Diana also practices yoga, is a professional yoga instructor, and is interested in the topics of self-care, human relations, and self-knowledge.
Business appeared in her life precisely through self-searching and curiosity. In order to spread her discoveries and good experience, Diana conducts seminars on dental care for various age groups.
