Innovations made in Issum

ISSUM. How is the local economy doing? And how can local politics support? The Issum CDU parliamentary group regularly gets to the bottom of these questions during visits to local companies. Representatives of the CDU parliamentary group recently visited the Ophardt Hygiene-Technik company in the Issum industrial area.

The company was founded in Issum in 1962 and has remained loyal to the location to this day despite its global growth. Around 150 employees are currently working in 14 production halls to develop and manufacture highly efficient and innovative hygiene products. With around 500 patents, Ophardt underlines its innovation leadership in the industry and shows that Issum thinks in a visionary and future-oriented manner.

“We are happy when companies take the time to give us an insight into their work,” said CDU parliamentary group leader Gerd Stenmans. “The regular exchange with the companies in our community is a valuable opportunity for us to stay in touch with the players in the local economy and to get to know the innovative potential directly on site.”

During the company tour, the local politicians were able to see in the company’s own showroom how Ophardt’s systems have developed over time and now meet the highest hygiene and safety requirements. A particularly impressive example was a replica intensive care room that demonstrates innovative access control: To open the door, visitors must first disinfect their hands. The door only opens automatically after disinfection – a system that guarantees the highest hygiene standards and is convincing in practice.
