Innovations in Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs Service Centers: Self-Study for Driver’s License Test

Innovations are being introduced as part of the reform of service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which began this summer.

Ukrainians who want to get a driver’s license will soon have the opportunity to independently prepare for the theoretical driving test, that is, the citizen will have a choice: resort to the services of driving schools or study on your own Traffic rules of Ukraine and the structure of the car.

Innovations related to passing the theoretical driving test are being introduced as part of the reform of service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was launched in the summer of this year. The corresponding information was announced by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko in his Telegram channel.

According to the minister, in order to pass the theoretical exam, the applicant for a license will need to contact any service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Over time, future drivers’ knowledge of traffic rules will also be tested at the Administrative Services Centers.

The innovations will also affect the Driving Schools for Persons with Disabilities project. The move will make test preparation easier for people with disabilities and wounded military personnel.

The practice of independently preparing for a theoretical driving test is not uncommon in European countries. For example, this approach is used in the UK and Spain.

However, driving lessons will, of course, continue to be taught in driving schools.

Let us remind you that in 2020 the website of the Ministry of Infrastructure appeared billwhich proposes to require bus and truck drivers to retake their driver’s license and registration certificate tests every five years.
