A battle that is countless across all competitions every weekend. However, the consequences were more than serious.
The match between Břeclav and Ždírc nad Doubravou was 0:0. At that moment, however, no one was thinking about the numbers on the scoreboard.
“Matěj Vopršal advanced with the ball, the stopper Břeclavi pushed him from behind, and Matěj in an unnatural position bumped his head into another home team player,” describes Ždírce football coach Michal Votava for Břeclavský deník.
“Matej could not move and said that his arms and legs tingled. He was still conscious, but it didn’t look good,” the Tatran coach describes moments of great fear and concern for the player’s health.
“It was an innocent hand-to-hand fight. Unfortunately, the visiting player was not prepared for the impact, he was not braced and moved his neck. An ambulance was called and the helicopter flew to Brno,” Břeclav coach Radomír Víšek told TN.cz.
However, the news from the hospital is encouraging. The 28-year-old footballer should be in a stable condition.
Both teams, after the horror they experienced, agreed with the referee that the match would be ended prematurely. His further fate has yet to be decided. It will probably happen again.
