Inno3D is preparing to release two very interesting video cards of the GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti models. The peculiarity of the new GeForce RTX 4070 AX eSports and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti iChill X2 White is that they are equipped with “hidden” power connectors.
Most video card manufacturers install power connectors on the top of the video cards. There are also exceptions in the form of a power connector located at the back of the graphics accelerator, but very rarely.
For Inno3D video cards, the power connectors are located on the inside of the video card. New items are equipped with short printed circuit boards of an unusual shape. Thanks to this, the connectors are actually located between the radiator of the cooling system and the reinforcing back plate.
The older model GeForce RTX 4070 AX eSports is equipped with a new 12+4-pin 12VHPWR power connector. The younger GeForce RTX 4060 Ti iChill X2 White received one familiar 8-pin connector. In other words, the user does not have to bother with laying multiple power cables. The power connectors themselves are rotated 180 degrees, towards the motherboard.
The GeForce RTX 4070 model is equipped with a two-piece rear reinforcement plate. It is assumed that the user will remove part of the reinforcing back plate before connecting the power cable to the video card, and after connecting the cable, install this part of the plate back.
For the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti iChill X2 White model, the plate does not need to be removed. The power connector is simply recessed deep into the video card. The available free space next to the connector is enough to simply connect the power cable.
In both cases, the power cable will be directed towards the motherboard, and not towards the side wall of the computer case. This approach to power connector placement can be useful with the 12VHPWR connector, as it provides more space for proper cable installation without kinks.
The GeForce RTX 4070 AX eSports and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti iChill X2 White from Inno3D will come with white power cables according to the style of the graphics cards themselves.
