Inmediate tender announced for improvement and modernization of Alcoi-Xàtiva train line

The tender for improvement works and modernization of the Alcoi-Xàtiva train line It will be carried out immediately. This was stated yesterday Friday by the Acting Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchezduring his visit to the Xàtiva station, where this Saturday the new conventional gauge route between Xàtiva and La Encina is scheduled to be put into service, a section that is considered basic for the development of the Mediterranean corridor.

At the Xàtiva station, the minister highlighted the progress in this project, while reporting on the status of other actions “vital for the development of the Corridor, such as the informative studies of the new north-south through axis of the arterial railway network of Valencia and the second Valencia-Castellón high-speed platform. And we will advance in the final design and configuration of the Central Station,” she points out.

In this sense, Raquel Sánchez announces the “immediate” tender for the comprehensive track renovation works on the Xàtiva-Alcoi linefor more than 117 million euros, an action included in the Commuter Plan of the Valencian Community “and that represents a historic investment.” The action includes the renewal of all track material (sleepers, rail and ballast); action on infrastructure, both on embankments and on slopes and level crossings; and adaptation of tunnels and overpasses.

We remember that in total a investment of 150 million euros for the modernization of the Alcoi-Xàtiva train, a project long claimed by these regions in terms of economic development and structuring of the territory.
