“Inmate assaults prison officials over reduced mutton curry quantity in Pujapura Central Jail”

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An inmate, who was enraged by the reduced quantity of mutton curry served with rice, assaulted the prison officials. The incident took place in Pujapura Central Jail. Faijas, a native of Wayanad, who is in jail in a drug case, assaulted the deputy jail superintendent and another jail official. Poojapura police registered a case against Faijas.

As the mutton curry was running low, he climbed the jail tower and raised a ruckus. He asked for more curry than what was given to others. A senior jail official said that he then caused trouble in the entire jail premises.

The incident happened on Saturday. Prisoners are usually served Mutton Curry on Saturdays as part of the prison menu. He was also served the same amount of mutton curry as everyone else. However, not satisfied with this, Faijaz raised a ruckus and threw the mutton curry given to him in the trash. Jail officials said he had caused similar problems in other jails and was currently shifted to a special ward.
